A lot of folks ask how much over Invoice (or under MSRP) one should expect to pay for a 325Ci. There is no clear-cut answer because BMWs are highly dependent on market demand = where you are located + how many dealers are in your area + time of year. In a large metro area, a price of $1500-$2000 over invoice is considered a fair price. If you can manage under $1500, spectacular! Some dealers don't quote under MSRP, esp. in Southern California, but make sure you tried all methods available (see the Guide) to you before paying MSRP, which I don't suggest you pay.

IMPORTANT UPDATE
There are changes to standard equipment for 3-series starting March, 2001 production. Read fax from BMW NA (3-page PDF, 180K). (Original announcement made by Jon Shafer on bimmer.org)

As far as the 325Ci is concerned, the only change is that Automatic Climate Control is now standard equipment (it used to only come with the Premium Package).

For 2002, in-dash CD Player is now standard (Cassette is optional for free), and there is an option for bi-level (hi/lowbeams) Xenon HID.

The factory options for the 325Ci are as follows:
  • Metallic Paint
  • Steptronic Automatic Transmission
  • Sport Package (17" Style 44 Rims, Performance Tires, Sport Seats)
  • Premium Package (Moonroof, 10-Way Power Seats, Wood Trim, Dimming Rearview Mirror) [Automatic Climate Control is now standard]
  • Cold Weather Package (Heated Headlight Washers, Heated Seats, Ski Bag)
  • Leather Seats
  • Power Seats, 10-Way with Memory (with auto right side mirror tilt-down on reverse)
  • Heated Seats
  • Audio: Harmon-Kardon (adds subwoofer+amplifier) or In-Dash CD (standard for 2002)
  • Navigation System
  • Moonroof
  • Xenon HID Lowbeams (for 2002: Dual Xenon HID Low/High beams)
  • Myrtle Wood Trim
