I am selling this on behalf of my sister. Stored in garage and under Evolution car cover with automatic battery tender attached. Rarely driven (1219 miles total - mileage difference between this and when photos taken is from summer driving this past summer) except on nice days in the summer. Never seen rain or snow. No modifications whatsoever. Never raced. Female driver.
My sister is selling this for personal reasons (nothing to do with the car itself). That's the reason this pristine Miata has to go, unfortunately. Very unique and eye-catching color; people comment about the color every single time the car is taken out for a drive.
Located in 11560 (east of New York City on Long Island, NY).
If you use Buy-It-Now, I will throw in the custom-fitted BlockIt Evolution car cover (thick, suitable for outdoor use) for free (Retail Price is over $200). (It is the cover you see in the photos).

PHOTOS
Some of my descriptions below will refer to these photos, so I recommend opening the link to my photo site in a new window and going back and forth from this page. The big photo gallery is here on this site:
http://www.mchoi.com/go/miata/pix/ (right click and "Open Link In New Window")
It spans several pages and contains over 150 photos. They are taken with a Nikon CoolPix 775 (2.1 megapixels) at full, fine resolution without flash on the "Auto" preset setting. I used iView MediaPro on my Mac to generate the thumbnails and the smaller, optimized images.
Here is the first page of that website:

OPTIONS
These are options that were ordered in addition to what the LS model package includes (see below-- which is everything, leather, power accessories, upgraded sound system, etc. -- LS is the top of the line model (besides the Special Edition) for this year):
- Color (Exterior): "Splash Green Mica" exterior
- Color (Interior): Black Leather | (Soft-top): Black Canvas
- ABS Brakes,
- Rear LSD (Limited Slip Differential -- for added traction and power),
- Sports Suspension Package (w/upgraded Bilstein gas-filled shock absorbers),
- Chrome Fuel Filler Door.
- Perimeter Shock Sensor Alarm (w/Mazda alarm key fob [includes remote trunk release])
FYI, LS Trim offers the following above the base model (see below):
- Nardi leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob
- Perforated Leather Seats
- Cruise Control
- Remote Keyless Entry System
- Power Door Locks
- Premium 200-Watt BOSE Sound System (AM/FM/CD) w/4 Speakers & Auto Speed-Sensing Volume Control & Equalizer Presets
- Cloth Convertible Top in Black
- Aluminum Interior Trim
- New Interior Color options (black and parchment)
The Base Model for 2003 came with:
- 205/45WR-16 Tires on 16" aluminum wheels w/wheel locks
- 1.8L 142hp/125ft-lbs torque 4-cylinder engine w/Variable Valve Timing
- Independent, double-wishbone suspension front and rear
- Large front and rear stabilizer bars (aka sway bars)
- Front shock tower brace
- Power-assisted 4-wheel ventilated disc brakes
- Power steering
- Power windows
- Power mirrors
- Air conditioning
This a rare combination of options and color and took us months of wait to get the right combo of features from Japan shipment. Not only is the Splash Green Mica rare (and a special color just for 2003 never to be offered again), it is rare to see it with a Black interior/top (usually comes in tan).
Also, the ABS with 6-Speed combination is very rare (not many were built/configured that way). I can say that this is probably the only car of this configuration that you'll ever run across. The car is truly unique and rare in this regard.
CONDITION
Mint condition, rarely driven (less than 20 times total). Almost brand new! The inside still looks and smells like a brand new car.
AFTERMARKET MODIFICATIONS
None whatsoever. Completely stock. Driven right off the showroom floor!
MAINTENANCE RECORD
I have the original window sticker for the car (US$25,000+ MSRP) and all the manuals, paperwork, warranty cards, etc. The car only has 1230 miles on it and I've done three oil changes & two oil filter changes on it, and I had to replace the battery after a long winter storage period (didn't have a battery tender attached to it then).
Battery replaced with glassmat sealed Westco battery (http://store.yahoo.com/specmiatasuperstore/wemiba.html), which is recommended by Miata enthusiasts as a perfect replacement for the stock Panasonic battery-- exact same size and specs. It's practically a brand new car. There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with the car mechanically-- it needs nothing.
TIPS
Here are some tips to help you as a new owner of this car.
- A great website and web forum/board for information and meeting other Miata owners (probabaly the biggest single place where you can find other Miata owners) is miata.net (http://www.miata.net/)
- Use 93 Octane (or higher if you are lucky enough to have access to it)
- Always store/park car with top up, especially if the top got wet (rain, fog, snow, etc.)
NOTE ON VALUE/PRICING
Let me address this, because I know someone is going to mention it. "Book Value" does not apply very well to performance cars or cars with very low mileage such as this Miata. I am not dumb and I know this car is worth more than what Kelly Blue Book, NADA, Edmunds, etc. value the car. Ultimately, the value of a car is determined by the buyer and what you are willing to pay for it.
TERMS & PAYMENT
A bid is a legal binding contract to purchase this vehicle from me if you are the highest bidder and my reserve price is met. Since this car is also posted for sale in local papers and nationally on websites and web forums, I reserve the right to end/cancel this auction early (in which case you and I both are not obligated to go through with the transaction) should a buyer from elsewhere (meaning not via eBay) put a deposit down on this vehicle and/or make a better offer to me.
If you do not agree to the following terms, do not bid on this auction. When you bid on this auction, you are agreeing to these terms:
- Winner must contact me within 3 days of auction closing.
- A $500 deposit is required within 5 days of auction closing-- via PayPal only (since I have a Premier Account, you can use your credit card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover), or checking account (eCheck), or PayPal balance).
-- I will not "hold" the car for you without this deposit and it could potentially sell to someone else.
- The balance is due upon delivery of the vehicle (whether local pick-up or truck shipment)-- via Bank Check / Cashier's Check (or Cash, in person) only.
- You should have arranged financing, if applicable, already with a pre-approved check ready to go. For more info, check here: eBay Motors - Financing Center)
- For both our protection and peace of mind, I would recommend that you use an escrow service (then the complications of handling payment below will be handled by them), but that's up to you: (eBay car buying tips recommends escrow.com (
) and warns to be wary of fraudelent escrow services. You should research your options if you want to go this route, but I recommend sticking with eBay's recommendations.
- When full balance + deposit is received, I will hand over the title for the car to officially complete the sale.
- Vehicle is sold without warranty, implied or explicit. Vehicle is sold as is. The original manufacturer warranty from Mazda are still in effect. Note that I am not a dealer and cannot provide you with warranty options. This is a person-to-person, private sale. You may be able to purchase, on your own, third party warranty plans for used cars, however.
- Buyer is responsible for all applicable taxes and fees.
- If picking up locally:
- You must pick up the car within 14 days (2 weeks) of auction closing, unless other arrangements are made.
- Bring full balance (winning bid price minus $500 deposit) in cash or bank/cashier's check.
- Title and spare keys and all documentation (receipts, car manuals, etc.) will be handed over to you.
- You can then apply for plates (registration) and insurance (if required by your state).
- Only AFTER you have plates and insurance, can you drive the car off my driveway. I will not let you "borrow" my current plates or insurance. I am going to cancel my registration and insurance as soon as the car is sold.
- The only other legal option is to come and tow the car away on a trailer, in which case registration and insurance is not required.
- If having the vehicle shipped:
- Buyer must arrange pickup within 14 days (2 weeks) of auction closing, unless other arrangements are made.
- Buyer is responsible for designating an appropriate vehicle shipping company to do the shipping. Buyer makes all the arrangements and payments to the shipping company.
- I am willing to help you out and drive the car up to 50 miles to a drop point for the shipping company to save you some money (with most companies, door-to-door is most expensive, and shipping company drop point-to-drop point is cheapest)
- I will FedEx the title and spare keys and all documentation (receipts, car manuals, etc.) as soon as balance is received.
